Wolves x Willett is a limited blend of two 10-year-old straight rye whiskeys. It is the third team-up between Wolves Whiskey and Willett, and the first with an age statement. One part is Willett's hand-picked 10-year Kentucky rye. The other spent seven years in Indiana, then three more in Northern California.

Wolves head blender Eddie Gonzalez chose that California-rested rye. The long, varied aging softens rye's natural spice. The result is a richer, rounder blend that still has a clear rye edge.

Nose it and you get bright orange, caramel and baking spices. The palate turns warm, with gingerbread, tobacco and toasted nuts. The finish is long and velvety. Vanilla and caramel linger, then a pop of spice closes it out.

It is bottled at 103 proof. That gives it plenty of presence without wearing out your palate. There are no additives, just well-aged straight rye. The label even carries Willett's bird and crown emblem.

Drink it neat to start. Then add a few drops of water and let the orange and spice open up. Pair it with smoked brisket, aged cheddar or dark chocolate. If you collect Willett or love mature rye, save this one for a special night with friends.
