Description

Wheatley Vodka comes from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It carries the name of Harlen Wheatley, the distillery's master distiller. He built this American vodka around red winter wheat. That grain is where its soft, gentle character comes from.

The process is unusual. Two separate grain recipes are each distilled seven times. They are then joined and run through the still three more times, for ten distillations in all. The spirit is triple filtered and cut with local limestone-filtered water. It is bottled at 82 proof, a touch stronger than most vodkas.

Pour a glass and you'll get a crisp, clean nose with a light hint of vanilla. The palate is smooth, delicate and well balanced. Soft wheat and subtle vanilla come through with very little burn. The finish stays clean and crisp, so your mouth feels fresh after every sip.

Judges like it too. Wheatley took Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It also won Silver at the 2023 International Wine & Spirits Competition and the 2024 World Vodka Awards. That is a strong record for an everyday bottle. It shares a home with Buffalo Trace bourbon, so the pedigree is real.

Because it's so clean, you can sip it straight from the freezer. It also makes a bright martini or a simple vodka soda with a lemon twist.
