Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut Champagne (750Ml)

Description

Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut is made only from a single great harvest. Madame Clicquot created the first vintage Champagne in 1810. Recent releases blend about half Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Meunier. The grapes come from grand and premier cru villages.

Around one tenth of the wine is aged in large oak casks. The bottles then rest on their lees for years. The 2015 is a Brut with 6 grams per liter of dosage.

In the glass it is bright yellow with a fine bead. The nose brings orange, grapefruit and lemon peel. Brioche, biscuit, dried apricot and honey follow, with roasted almond and hazelnut.

The first sip feels taut and mineral. Then toast, roasted coffee bean and praline come through. The finish is long and fresh, with toasty notes.
