Very Olde St. Nick Summer Rye comes from Preservation Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. It is a small-batch straight rye whiskey that appears once a year as a seasonal release. The blend marries Tennessee ryes with pot-distilled Kentucky ryes.

This bottling is cask strength, so it pours big and warm. On the nose you get caramel, rye spice and toasted oak. The palate brings vanilla, pepper and dried fruit. The finish is long, with more rye spice, caramel and oak.

Judges agree it is something special. It took a Double Gold medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Your first taste should be neat. After that, a few drops of water let the caramel and fruit step forward. Bottles are limited, so grab one while you can.
