Description

Tire Fire is a heavily peated single malt from ASW Distillery in Atlanta, Georgia. The barley is 100% peated malt from Inverness, Scotland, peated to about 45 ppm. ASW distills it on Scottish-style twin copper pot stills. The spirit then rests in new charred American oak barrels.

The result is an Islay-style dram with a Southern accent. ASW calls the nose a bouquet of barbecue. You get campfire smoke and earthy peat right away. The palate is sweeter than you might expect. Brown sugar and peat lead, with cherry and vanilla ice cream behind them. A salty, sea-spray note drifts through. The smoke stays with you on a long finish.

Tire Fire has a strong record with judges. The 91-proof bottle won Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. In 2019 it scored 96 points and a Silver Medal from the Beverage Testing Institute.

Sip it neat at 45.5% ABV, or add a few drops of water. It also makes a smoky Old Fashioned or a bold highball. Pair it with smoked meats, BBQ ribs or aged cheddar. If you love peat, this American single malt deserves a spot on your shelf.
