Description
Originally blended as a 12 year old in 1983, The Last Drop 1971 Blended
Scotch Whisky was soon transported back to aging cellars, due to an excess production of whisky. Aged again for 9 more years, a portion of this spirit was bottled while the rest was moved again for another 9 years in American oak barrels. It was in these barrels that the whiskey continued to mature for another 24 years before finally being bottled. The Last Drop 1971 may have had a peculiar journey to get to where it is, but resulted in a bottling with a grand age of 45 years. Considered to be a "triple matured blend," The Last Drop 1971 Blend envelops you in a harmonious complexity that makes this luxurious whisky truly exceptional. Beginning with a nose of sweet honey and vanilla, the aroma soon gives way towards orange and lemon with warmer apple and toasted almond notes in tow. As the spirit coats the tongue, the palate brings a pleasant fruity sweetness that is followed by crisp orange citrus and lemon tang with just a touch of oak. Only 1,352 bottles are in existence.
