Description

Each bottle of Russell's Reserve Single Barrel comes from one hand-picked barrel. Jimmy Russell and his son Eddie built this line at Wild Turkey in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Between them, the Russells have spent decades shaping how Wild Turkey tastes.

The barrels carry a deep #4 "alligator" char. They are chosen from the middle floors of the rickhouse, where the whiskey ages best. It goes into the bottle at 110 proof without chill filtering. That keeps the oils and texture you'd taste straight from the barrel.

Expect vanilla, nuts and brown sugar on the nose, with oak and cinnamon. The palate is spicy and bold, with creamy toffee, licorice and vanilla. It ends on sweet spice and a gentle malty note. Each barrel has its own personality, so your bottle may lean a little different.

Judges keep rewarding it. It earned Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021. It took 95 points and Gold at the New York International Spirits Competition in 2022. It also won Platinum from the American Spirits Council of Tasters that year. In 2023 the TAG Global Spirits Awards gave it Platinum too.

Sip this bourbon neat first, then add a few drops of water if you like. A large ice cube cools it down slowly. It also builds a strong Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Pair it with grilled meats, barbecue, dark chocolate or aged cheese.
