Rowan's Creek is a Kentucky bourbon from the family-run Willett Distillery in Bardstown. It takes its name from the creek that still runs through the distillery grounds. The creek honors John Rowan, a judge and statesman who settled near Bardstown in the late 1700s. Even Kulsveen hand-drew the label himself.

The mash bill is 72% corn, 13% rye and 15% barley. Barrels are filled at 125 proof, and the whiskey is bottled at 100.1 proof. Limestone spring water adds to its clean character. You can taste generations of know-how in every glass.

Caramel and vanilla lead the nose, lifted by eucalyptus, mint and white pepper. The palate is full and spicy, with more caramel and vanilla. Apricot and a hint of cigar box follow. The finish lingers with cedarwood, berries, mint and warm spice.

It has won Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition twice, in 2005 and 2011. Serve it with grilled meats, smoked cheeses or a rich chocolate dessert. It stands up to bold food without taking over the plate.
