Description

Varela Hermanos, S.A. is located in the town of Pesé, Panama. Its story dates back to 1908, when Don José Varela Blanco, a Spanish immigrant, opened a sugar mill in Pesé. The family still grows its own sugar cane on the estate, and the generations that followed turned the mill into a respected, family-run producer of distilled spirits in Panama.

It has been over a century and the family tradition and heritage continues. Ron Abuelo Añejo 12 Años is distilled in column stills, and the rum is then aged for at least 12 years in used bourbon white oak casks. A variety of rums of that age are blended together to create this expression. Ron Abuelo Añejo 12 Años has a rich, full-bodied flavor of dried fruit and light oaky notes.

Ron Abuelo 12 Años has a spicy vanilla kick, which is complemented by flavors of honey and sweet caramel that lead into a lengthy and delightful finish. It is a rum made for slow sipping, whether neat or over a single large cube of ice.
