Description

Red Spot 15 Year Old is the oldest bottling in the Spot range of Irish Whiskey. It returned in 2018 after about fifty years away, rebuilt from Mitchell & Son family records.

Midleton Distillery triple distils malted and unmalted barley in copper pot stills. The whiskey then rests at least fifteen years in bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts and Sicilian Marsala casks.

The nose gives pot still spice, cooked fruit, baked apple, mango and black cherry. Hazelnut, new leather and toasted oak follow.

Marsala casks bring ripe fruit sweetness to the palate. Sweet red pepper and cracked black pepper add a lively edge. The finish is extra long, full of fruit and spice.

Pour it neat, perhaps with dark chocolate or aged cheese.
