Description

Penelope Wheated Bourbon is the fifth core release from Penelope Bourbon. It reached stores nationwide in February 2025. The whiskey is distilled at the MGP-owned Ross & Squibb Distillery in Indiana. It is bottled at 95 proof, or 47.5% ABV, and is non-chill filtered.

This is a four-grain bourbon. The mash bill is 74% corn, 16% wheat, 7% rye and 3% malted barley. A mash bill is simply the grain recipe. The wheat gives the spirit a soft, rounded feel. The small share of rye still adds a gentle lift of spice. It rests four to six years in new charred American oak.

On the nose you'll find light oak and sweet corn, with fresh apple and pear. The palate brings vanilla, honey and caramel apple. A hint of orange zest keeps it bright. The finish lingers with brown sugar, toasted oak and a touch of cinnamon.

Penelope also makes Architect, Four Grain, Toasted and Barrel Strength. Wheated joins them as an easygoing everyday pick. At 95 proof, it holds up in a cocktail but still sips gently on its own.

Pour it neat, over a big cube or in an Old Fashioned. It works well with smoked brisket, pecan pie, sharp cheddar or dark chocolate. If you enjoy softer bourbon, this bottle fits right in.
