Description

Pendleton Midnight is the richer, darker sibling of Pendleton's classic Canadian whisky. Like the rest of the range, it carries the name of the famous Pendleton Round-Up rodeo. Hood River Distillers in Oregon brings it to market.

The whisky is made and matured in Canada. Part of the blend spends over six years in American brandy barrels. That brandy oak adds fruit and depth. In Oregon it's cut to 90 proof with glacier-fed spring water from Mt. Hood.

Lift the glass and you'll notice leather and a little musk. Warm spices follow, with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and a touch of ginger. Faint dried fruit sits underneath. On the palate the oak feels well blended, with coffee cake, nuts, caramelized banana and candied figs.

The body is full and filling. Spice warmth lingers through the finish, along with pecans and walnuts. The brand reports a Gold medal from the American Spirits Council of Tasters.

Pour it neat or on the rocks to enjoy the brandy-barrel fruit. It also works in a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned. Pair it with smoky barbecue, dark chocolate or spiced nuts. If you like a fuller whisky that stays easy to drink, keep this one close.
