Description

Ornellaia 2017 'Solare' is the estate's flagship red from Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast. Solare means radiant, the word chosen to sum up this vintage.

The blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc fill in the rest. A very hot, dry year gave small grapes and a deep, dark color.

You'll smell ripe red fruit, sweet tobacco and vanilla. The palate is balanced, firm and pleasantly fresh.

It spent about 18 months in barriques. Decant this wine and serve it with lamb, steak or game.
