Opus One 2022 Red Blend

Description

Opus One began as a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. The 2022 is an extraordinary wine from Oakville in Napa Valley. It blends 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and a dash of Malbec. It aged 18 months in new French oak. Supply is very limited.

You will smell blueberry, cassis and dried rose petals, with olive, cigar box and graphite underneath. Bright red fruit, cocoa and orange peel fill the palate. The long finish shows wet stone, vanilla and a hint of coffee.

Critics love it. Decanter gave it 97 points, and James Suckling gave it 96.

Decant it and serve it with steak, lamb or aged cheese. Fine tannins mean you can also cellar it for years.
