Old Parr 18 is a blended Scotch with a story that starts in Victorian London. In 1871, brothers James and Samuel Greenlees set up as blenders and merchants there. They launched Old Parr in 1909. The name honors Thomas Parr, a farmer said to have lived to 152.
Every whisky in this blend has spent 18 years in oak. Malts from the Cragganmore distillery sit at its heart. Cragganmore's flat-topped pot stills are unlike any others in Scotland. The blenders keep the smoke low, so that malt character can shine. If long-matured bottles are your thing, our aged Scotch range has more to explore.
In the glass it shows a full gold color. The nose is clean, light and crisp, with green leaves, flowers and oak. A hint of freshly turned earth sits underneath. Sip it and you get ripe peach and raspberry with melted toffee. Light honey and a touch of dry smoke follow. The finish stays clean and gentle.
The bottle is part of the fun. Its oval shape and crackled texture echo old tavern bottles from Parr's era. Each one is sealed with the Greenlees Brothers signature.
Diageo recommends it neat or on the rocks. It also mixes well with soda or in classic whisky cocktails. For an easy highball, try it with ginger ale and a squeeze of orange. It is a smart pick when you want a whiskey that friends can share.
