Time does a lot of work here. After 11 years in charred oak, this rye comes out richer, softer, and more layered than the younger versions you might know. You get more oak, more depth, and a smoother feel without losing the spice that makes rye interesting. It’s bottled at cask strength, so nothing gets watered down. What you taste is what came straight from the barrel.
Old Overholt Extra Aged 11 Year 2024 Release comes from a small batch of barrels aged across four Kentucky warehouses. That mix gives you balance instead of sharp edges. The nose brings dark caramel, toasted wood, vanilla, and a light hit of mint and citrus. Take a sip and you’ll notice a creamy texture with cinnamon, clove, honey, toffee, and baked apple. The finish stays warm and spicy, with charred oak and a touch of dark chocolate.
You can drink it neat or add a few drops of water to open it up. It also makes a bold Manhattan. Try it with grilled steak, smoked pork, or pecan pie if you want the flavors to really stand out.
