Old Forester gives you a true taste of Kentucky bourbon history. It was created in 1870 in Louisville. The brand calls it America's first bottled bourbon. It is also the only bourbon distilled and sold by its founding family before, during, and after Prohibition.

This 86 proof bottle is the classic of the range. The nose is bright, with citrus and tropical fruit and soft florals. A pound cake sweetness follows, with a touch of clove and light toasted oak.

On the palate, citrus zest and ripe pear lead the way. Fresh mint and a little clove sit just beneath. The finish carries cool spearmint, clove spice, and warm toasted oak. It is lighter and fruitier than many people expect from a bourbon.

The judges have noticed. It won Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It also took Gold at the 2019 International Spirits Challenge.

Neat or on ice works fine, yet this bourbon really shows off in your favorite cocktails. Stir an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan, or shake a Whiskey Sour.
