Old Forester 100 Proof is a Kentucky straight bourbon from one of the oldest names in American whiskey. George Garvin Brown founded the brand in Louisville in 1870. He signed every bottle, and his signature still sits on the label today. This version is drawn from select barrels and bottled at a full 100 proof.

The higher strength gives you a big, rich nose. The distillery describes intense vanilla and creamy butterscotch. Black cherry follows, with a touch of nutmeg and allspice. Sip it and cane sugar sweetness comes first. Black cherry and candied citrus join in, with nutmeg and a light barrel char for depth. The finish brings charred oak, warm baking spice, black tea and burnt sugar. Some reviewers also pick up chocolate and caramel on the nose and palate.

Judges have liked it for years. It took Gold at the 2019 International Spirits Challenge and Gold at the 2019 Whiskies of the World. It also won Gold at the 2018 American Whiskey Masters and scored 92 points at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
