You get a whisky with real character the moment you open a bottle from this small distillery on Scotland’s West Coast. It comes from the town of Oban, a place built around the distillery itself, which has been running since 1794. You taste the region in every sip. The coastal air shapes its “West Highland” style, giving you a bridge between smoky island malts and the lighter Highland profile.
This single malt rests for 14 years in oak casks, mostly refill American oak, so the spirit keeps its natural depth without being overwhelmed by wood. You’ll notice bright citrus, pear, and a touch of sea salt on the nose. Take a sip and you get rich dried fruit, honeyed spice, malt, and a gentle thread of smoke. The finish stays with you—smooth, slightly sweet, and edged with oak and salt.
Production is small because the distillery runs only two copper pot stills, and that limited scale helps preserve its unique character. At 43% ABV and bottled in a 750mL size, it’s easy to enjoy neat. Add a splash of cool water if you want to open it up even more. It’s part of the original Classic Malts selection for a reason—you taste the craft in every drop.
