The 2023 Vintage is the 40th release of the iconic Midleton Very Rare series. Many whiskey lovers see it as a high point of Irish whiskey. Midleton creates a new edition each year. Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman made this one, his third vintage for the series. It blends rare, hand-picked single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys. These were matured in American oak casks. This vintage uses more refill casks (barrels used more than once) than before. It is bottled at a smooth 40% ABV.

Its aroma opens with juicy nectarine, ripe melon, green apple and apricot. The taste is rich and creamy. It brings luscious fruit, soft sweetness and a light herbal touch, like camomile tea. On the finish, fruit and warm pot still spices slowly build. Then gentle oak takes over.

Because it is released only once a year, it has become a favorite with collectors around the world. Each bottle is individually numbered. The 2023 edition also brings new eco-friendly packaging. A recyclable cardboard case replaces the old wooden box.
