This Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey comes only from Ireland and the Midleton Distillery, and it carries the name of Barry Crockett, the respected former Master Distiller. It became the first permanent Single Pot Still Whiskey in the Midleton Very Rare range when it was added in 2011, and it continues to stand out for its quality. Most bottles come in a 750 ml size, although some markets also offer a 700 ml version, and every bottle is filled at 46% ABV for a balanced strength.
The whiskey is aged mainly in American bourbon barrels, while a small portion comes from fresh, unseasoned American oak, which adds extra depth. The aroma is smooth with notes of vanilla, toasted oak, lime, green berries, and pear, and the taste follows with light pepper, fresh citrus such as lime and mandarin, cinnamon, and gentle oak sweetness.
The texture is creamy, and the flavor stays rich and complex, even though the bottle does not display an age statement. It includes whiskey aged up to 18 years in American oak, and it has earned more than 30 awards. Made at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, it now comes in premium sustainable packaging, and its limited release makes it highly prized by collectors.
