Description

This single pot still Irish whiskey honors Barry Crockett, the long-serving Master Distiller at Midleton Distillery in County Cork. It joined the Midleton Very Rare range in 2011 as a permanent bottling. It was the first Irish Distillers whiskey named after a master distiller since John Jameson himself. Its mash of malted and unmalted barley runs three times through copper pot stills.

Most of the spirit matures in American bourbon barrels. A small share comes from fresh, unseasoned American oak. It is bottled at 46% with no age statement.

The nose is elegant. Vanilla and toasted oak lead, lifted by lime, green berries and pear. A curious note of sweet green pepper sits at the edge. Light pepper opens the palate, then lime and sweet mandarin orange. A hint of cinnamon, vanilla and oak shows its time in American wood. The flavors last well into a long finish that fades to clean oak.

It has won over 30 awards to date. Those include Best Irish Blended Pot Still Whiskey at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2016.
