Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur (750Ml)

Description

Girolamo Luxardo founded his distillery in Zara, on the Dalmatian coast, in 1821. The family still uses his Maraschino recipe. Today the Luxardo family works from Torreglia, near Padua, and grows its own marasca cherries.

Sour marasca cherries steep in larch vats for up to three years. The infusion is distilled in copper pot stills, then rests in Finnish ash vats. The whole process takes about four years. Each bottle is wrapped in hand-plaited straw.

It pours crystal clear. You smell cherry and roasted nuts. The palate is smooth yet sharp, with cherry, rosewater, dark chocolate, vanilla and orange marmalade. The finish is rich cherry.

This liqueur won Gold at the 2019 International Spirits Challenge. Use it in classic cocktails like the Aviation, or sip it after dinner.
