Kavalan Port Cask Finish Concertmaster Whisky (750Ml)

Description

Kavalan Concertmaster is a single malt from Taiwan's Kavalan Distillery. The whisky first matures in American oak. It is then finished in Portuguese port casks, using ruby, tawny and vintage port. You get it at 40% ABV, with no age statement.

It pours a pleasant brownish red. Bring it close and tropical fruit rises up, with honey, vanilla and candy floss. Mango and sweet apple drift in as it opens. The palate is rich and naturally sweet. Cinnamon and clove add warmth around a center of stewed and dried fruit. The finish is medium in length. Raisin-like fruit slowly turns to vanilla, cream and spice.

Concertmaster has a strong record with judges. It won Gold at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. That same year it scored 94 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. It also took Double Gold and Best Whiskey at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America Tasting Competition. It was also named Best in Class at the 2011 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Pour it neat or over one cube of ice. It is lovely with dark chocolate, blue cheese or a slice of fruit cake.
