Description
This rum hails from Trinidad and Tobago, capturing the island’s unique character and rich tradition. Bottled at 86 proof (43% alcohol) in a standard 750ml bottle, it is a medium-bodied and smooth Trinidadian rum that appeals to both casual drinkers and connoisseurs. Crafted by blending molasses-based rums, likely from Trinidad Distillers Limited (Angostura), some of the rums in the blend are aged up to 15 years, although no age statement appears on the bottle.
The aging takes place in Trinidad, usually in lightly used ex-bourbon barrels, which enhances the rum’s complexity without overpowering it. No sugar or artificial flavors are added, keeping the spirit natural and pure. On the palate, it delivers a layered experience, starting with moderate oakiness and unfolding into spicy, fruity, and earthy notes. Common tasting highlights include toasted coconut, cinnamon, dried mango, and hints of vanilla cream.
The finish is smooth, with lingering fruit, spice, and earthy undertones, although some may find it slightly brief. Versatile and approachable, this rum is enjoyable neat, on the rocks, or in classic cocktails such as a Daiquiri or Rum Highball. As the flagship of the Jung & Wulff "Origins" Luxury Rums collection, it celebrates the legacy of L.E. Jung and Frederick Wulff, early 19th-century importers who introduced Caribbean spirits to New Orleans.
