Johnnie Walker Green Label is a blended malt Scotch whisky. That means it holds no grain whisky at all, only single malts. Every malt in the blend has aged for at least 15 years. The key malts are Talisker, Caol Ila, Cragganmore and Linkwood. They bring coastal smoke from Skye and Islay, plus softer fruit from Speyside.

The story of Johnnie Walker starts with John Walker, a grocer in Kilmarnock, Scotland. His shop sold Scotch Whiskey to local customers. Over time he began mixing his own blended whiskies. After he died in 1857, his son Alexander took charge and grew the whisky side. Green Label itself left many markets in 2012. Fans asked for it, and it came back in 2016.

The brand calls this whisky lush and verdant, with a crackle of bonfire smoke. On the nose you find gentle peat smoke, sweet malt and soft fruit. The palate feels full and round. Rich malt and ripe fruit meet peppery spice and a light touch of peat. The finish runs long, with warm spice and a wisp of smoke.

Critics rate it highly. Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2017 gave it 95 points. Malt Advocate scored it 89 points back in 2005.
