This whisky is crafted by Ichiro Akuto, the founder of Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, Japan, and is part of the unique Blended World Whisky category he created. It combines Ichiro’s own malt from Chichibu and Hanyu with carefully selected whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and the U.S., earning it the nickname “All-World Whisky” for its balance of Japanese and international flavors. The foreign whiskies are aged in their home countries for 3 to 20 years and then spend 1 to 3 years in Japan, allowing the flavors to meld harmoniously. Bottled at 46.5% ABV (93 proof) in a standard 750mL bottle (or 700mL in some markets), this whisky is usually non-chill filtered and natural in color.
It is known for a smooth, complex, and balanced taste, making it approachable for both whisky enthusiasts and beginners. The aroma reveals ripe fruits like peach, apricot, and apple, along with honeyed malt, vanilla cream, and citrus notes. On the palate, rich flavors of toffee, vanilla, gingerbread, tropical fruits, and gentle spices such as black pepper unfold. The finish is medium to long, with sweet vanilla and a hint of spice or ginger. Blending and final aging take place at Chichibu Distillery, reflecting Ichiro Akuto’s dedication to modern Japanese whisky.
