Description

Horse Soldier Small Batch is a wheated bourbon with a real story behind it. The mash is 70% corn, 20% wheat and 10% barley. Mature barrels are blended in small batches. It is bottled at 95 proof without chill filtering, so the body stays full.

Lift the glass and you get butterscotch, ginger and ripe cherry. On the palate, caramel leads, with warm nutmeg and oak. Vanilla rounds it out. The finish is full-bodied and rich.

The name honors the Green Beret teams who rode into Afghanistan on horseback after 9/11. The American Freedom Distillery was founded by veterans, for veterans. See the whole Horse Soldier range here.

It won silver at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. In 2022 it came back with Double Gold. The Tasting Panel scored it 94 points.
