Highland Park 18-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky comes from the Highland Park Distillery on Orkney. These islands lie off the far north coast of Scotland. The distillery sits in Kirkwall and has made whisky since 1798. Every drop in this bottle is aged for at least 18 years. That long rest gives it real depth and smoothness. As a single malt, it is made only from malted barley at one distillery. It is bottled at 43% ABV. The 750ml bottle is the US size; most other countries get a 70cl bottle.

The whisky matures in first-fill sherry-seasoned casks. These are oak barrels that were first filled with sherry wine. Both European and American oak are used. Its rich amber color is natural, with no added coloring. The flavor is rich and well balanced. Expect honey, toffee, ripe cherries and dark chocolate. You may also find candied orange peel, marzipan and warm cinnamon. Gentle, aromatic peat smoke runs through it all. It is much softer than the bold smoke of many Islay whiskies.

The Viking Pride bottle design arrived in 2017. It honors Highland Park's proud Norse roots. This whisky has won many top awards. Spirits critic F. Paul Pacult even named it “Best Spirit in the World.” Every sip feels full and refined. The finish is long, soft and sweet, with a light trail of smoke. It's a true taste of Orkney craft.
