Description
Located in the Wasatch mountains of Park City, Utah, High West is Utah's first legal distillery, operating since 1870. Also the world’s first “ski-in” gastro-distillery, High West offers a taste of their passions for the American West, contemporary western visuals, and american roots music alongside their appreciation for superb whiskey. The High Country American Single malt is inspired by Scottish single-malt traditions and classic
American Whiskies. Made in the high copper pot stills in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, High Country is distilled with the grain left in during its fermentation and distillation process, also known as “on-the-grain.” Additionally, this
single malt is matured for a minimum of two years in a combination of freshly charred and second-use French oak port barrels. These characteristics result in a distinct and delicious representation of American whiskey qualities. On the nose are aromas of toasted macadamias, dried cherries and raisins, coconut, cocoa, and softly toasted oak with a hint of minerality. The palate offers a heavy mouthfeel with notes of cooked orchard fruits, dark chocolate, cherry, toasted rice, and toffee with notes of butter, brioche and cream. The finish is lingering, with flavors of sweet honey, toasted marshmallow, cacao, and earthy spice. Sip this single malt neat or with a few drops of spring water.
