Hennessy XO Cognac (750Ml)

Description

Hennessy X.O dates back to 1870. Maurice Hennessy asked his master blender, Emile Fillioux, for a cognac to share with family and friends. The result was one of the first cognacs ever called X.O, short for Extra Old. Today it is still made by the Hennessy house in Cognac, France, and this bottle holds 750ml.

More than 100 eaux-de-vie go into every blend. They come from four growing areas: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. Long years in oak give the cognac its deep amber color. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

Swirl the glass and you will find dried and candied fruit, warm spice and a hint of orange. The first sip feels full and rounded. Candied fruit leads, then a peppery note rises with a touch of chocolate. Rich dark chocolate builds, and oak blends with soft vanilla. The finish is long, with oak that slowly fades.

The bottle has its own story. In 1947 Gerald de Geoffre, Maurice Hennessy's great-grandson, designed the curved decanter. Its shape nods to an upturned bunch of grapes.

Hennessy suggests trying X.O over ice, from a single cube to a full glass. You can also sip it neat at room temperature to catch every aroma. Pair it with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or a fine cigar. It makes a fine bottle for a big birthday or a special toast.
