Heaven's Door Homesick Blues is a limited-release wheated bourbon made as a tribute to Bob Dylan's Minnesota roots. Dylan was born in Duluth. This whiskey was aged in Minnesota, about 150 miles from his birthplace. It spent seven years in the state's North Country. Summers there are warm and winters are fierce. Those swings push the spirit deep into the oak and back out again.

Wheat takes the place of rye in the mash, so the texture is soft and round. It goes into the bottle at cask strength, 122.7 proof. The color is a deep, rich amber, and the whiskey feels velvety on your tongue.

Honey and caramel lead the way when you take a sip. Baking spice and a pinch of nutmeg follow, with vanilla and dried fruit underneath. The finish is long and mellow, even at this strength. It manages to be sweet and spicy at the same time.
