Grune Fee Classic Absinthe (750Ml)

Description

Grüne Fee Classic Absinthe is made in Austria. Its name means "green fairy," the old nickname for absinthe. It is re-created from 19th-century recipes. Back then, the original was made as a medicine to help relax the muscles.

Grand wormwood leads the blend. Salvia, peppermint, chamomile and liquorice join it. These herbs also give the spirit its natural pale green color, so no dye is needed.

It is bottled at 130 proof, a traditional strength that protects the herbs. Anise is there, but it never takes over. Expect a full-bodied, herbal spirit with a slight sweetness.

To serve it the classic way, pour a small measure into a glass. Slowly add ice-cold water and watch it turn cloudy. That cloud is called the louche. Sweeten it to taste if you like. Grüne Fee also works in many complex cocktails.

Because it is so strong, take your time with it. A little goes a long way. Try it next to dark chocolate, citrus desserts or roasted almonds.
