Grey Goose La Poire

Grey Goose La Poire is a pear-flavored vodka from France. It starts with the classic Grey Goose Vodka, made from soft winter wheat grown in Picardy. The vodka is distilled there, then bottled and flavored in Cognac with Gensac spring water. Cellar Master François Thibault designed the process. La Poire first arrived in the US in 2007.

The flavor comes from French Anjou pears. Grey Goose blends three pear elements into the vodka. One is a spirit distilled from soaked pears in a copper pot still. Another is an essence made from concentrated pear juice. The third is a simple pear infusion.

The nose is fresh and floral, with ripe pear. On the palate it is clean and crisp, with juicy pear and a light pinch of black pepper. The finish is long and rounded, with lingering pear and a hint of bitter almond.

La Poire is bottled at 40% ABV, or 80 proof, and it is gluten-free. For an easy serve, pour it over good ice and add a pear slice. It also makes a crisp Peartini or a pear Moscow Mule. Top it with soda water when you want something lighter.
