Goldschlager is a smooth and bold cinnamon-flavored schnapps liqueur that stands out for its unique sparkle. It’s famous for the real 24-karat gold flakes floating inside the bottle, giving it a luxurious and eye-catching look. The drink has a strong 43.5% alcohol content (87 proof), though the original version was even stronger at 53.5% (107 proof)—now sold separately as Goldschlager 107.
Originally created in Switzerland, this liqueur is often known as a Swiss cinnamon schnapps, but today it’s proudly produced by the Sazerac Company, a well-known American spirits maker. The name “Goldschläger” comes from the German word for “Goldbeater,” someone who hammers gold into thin sheets.
The liquid itself is clear and shimmering, with real gold flakes swirling inside. Its sweet and spicy flavor delivers a rich burst of cinnamon and a warm, fiery finish, while the texture feels slightly syrupy and smooth. Goldschlager is most often enjoyed as a chilled shot, though it also adds a dazzling touch to cocktails and party drinks.
The gold flakes are 100% real and safe to drink, and each bottle contains only a tiny amount—around 13 milligrams. Fun, flashy, and flavorful, Goldschlager became a party favorite in the 1990s and early 2000s, and it still shines today.
