Goldeneye Winery, part of The Duckhorn Portfolio founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, is known for producing exceptional Pinot Noir wines. This Single-Vineyard wine is made entirely from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown at Goldeneye’s own Gowan Creek Vineyard in Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, California. The vineyard lies in the cooler, northern “deep end” of the valley, where coastal fog and mild temperatures create perfect conditions for growing this elegant and complex grape.
The Gowan Creek Pinot Noir is bold, expressive, and full of rich flavors with deep color and vibrant fruit notes. First released in 2005, it is typically aged for about 16 months in French oak barrels — half new and half neutral — to add subtle spice and texture while letting the fruit shine. With an alcohol level of around 14.2%, it offers a balanced and smooth experience.
Each small batch is carefully crafted using open-top fermenters and traditional methods like punch-downs and pump-overs to enhance flavor and body. The wine’s aroma bursts with dark cherry, blackberry, cassis, blueberry, sage, and warm baking spices, while the taste reveals layers of plum and black cherry with silky tannins and a long, elegant finish. Often praised by critics, this wine stands as one of Goldeneye’s true flagship releases.
