Glenmorangie Signet Scotch Whiskey (750Ml)

Description

Glenmorangie Signet is made at the Glenmorangie Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Its key ingredient is chocolate malt. This heavily roasted barley is more often used to brew dark stouts and porters. The distillery makes its chocolate malt spirit only once a year. The tallest stills in Scotland give it a light, fruity base.

Dr. Bill Lumsden, the Director of Whisky Creation, dreamed it up over a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. The chocolate malt spirit is blended with some of the oldest, rarest whiskies in the Glenmorangie stocks. Some were distilled more than 30 years ago. There is no age statement, yet those old whiskies bring real depth. Ex-bourbon casks add creaminess, sherry casks add sweetness, and virgin charred American oak adds spice.

Pour a glass and mocha greets you first. Milk chocolate, orange marmalade and warm spice follow on the nose. The palate is rich and velvety at 46% ABV. You get bitter mocha, dark chocolate, smooth butterscotch and a tiramisu note, with dates and Jaffa orange underneath. The finish is long, spicy and gently drying.

Signet has collected plenty of medals. It won Gold with 95 points at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2023. It also took Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2023. The World Whiskies Awards 2023 named it Best Scotch Highlands Single Malt. Whisky Advocate scored it 94 points.
