Description

Glenmorangie The Lasanta is a 12 year old single malt Scotch from the Scottish Highlands. Its spirit comes from Glenmorangie's giraffe-high stills, which give a delicate, fruity character. Glenmorangie says the idea was to bottle the magic of sunset.

For roughly its first decade, Lasanta rests in ex-bourbon casks made of American white oak. Next it moves into Spanish sherry casks for roughly two more years. Master of Malt names those casks as Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez. It is bottled at 43% ABV.

Glenmorangie sums it up as raisins, honeycomb and chocolate-covered hazelnuts, lifted by cinnamon. On the nose that means warm spice, chocolate-covered raisins, honeycomb and toffee. The palate brings sherry-soaked sultanas, orange segments, walnuts and butterscotch. The finish is long, with spiced orange and chocolate-coated hazelnuts.

Lasanta has a solid record with judges. It won Gold Outstanding at the 2019 International Wine & Spirit Competition. It took Gold at the 2020 International Spirits Challenge. In 2022 it won Silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Glenmorangie suggests you sip it neat or add a little water. A few large rocks of ice work too. This whisky goes well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or a rich dessert.
