Description

The Glenlivet has been making single malt in Speyside since the early days of legal Scotch. Its Sample Room is where the team tests new ideas. Blenders try out different casks and finishing methods there. The core range stays the same, while the Sample Room gets to play.

This 25 Year Old is one of the results. It is a single malt that spent at least 25 years in oak. It was then finished in two kinds of cask. First-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks add dark, sweet fruit. Tronçais oak casks that once held Cognac bring warmth and spice. It is bottled at 43% ABV.

Bring the glass close and you will find chocolate ganache, plum jam and Manuka honey. Fresh lemon zest, toasted cinnamon and orange blossom follow. On the palate, sweet fig and blood orange lead the way. Warming ginger, toasted oak and a hint of charred pineapple come next. The finish is long and sweet, with gentle spice.

Medal tables love it. It won Gold at the International Spirits Challenge in both 2024 and 2025. It also took Gold at the 2024 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC). In 2023, it earned Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Pour it neat first, then try it with a drop or two of water. The Glenlivet also suggests serving it over ice. Skip heavy mixers so you can taste every layer. A square of dark chocolate or a few dried figs make a fine match. Choose it when you want to see what time and great casks can do together.
