Glenfiddich 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve brings a taste of Kentucky to Speyside. It is a single malt Scotch made in Dufftown, Scotland. The whisky spends 14 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks. It then moves into deeply charred new American oak for its finish. Those barrels are built by The Kelvin Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky.
Malt Master Brian Kinsman created this whisky, and it joined the core range in 2015. It was first made with American drinkers in mind. So it is a regular part of the lineup, not a limited release. It is bottled at 43% ABV.
Pour a glass and you will smell bright vanilla, a little citrus, caramelized brown sugar and cinnamon. Baked apple and ripe summer fruit rest on a bed of rich oak. The taste is rich and sweet. Creamy toffee meets woody spice, candied orange peel and freshly toasted oak. The finish lasts a long time, and the sweetness stays with you.
Judges have rewarded it too. It took a Silver medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2020. The Los Angeles Spirits Awards gave it a Silver the same year.
If you love both bourbon and Scotch, this bottle bridges the two. Sip it neat, add a few drops of water, or pour it over ice. It also makes a smooth Old Fashioned. Find more Scotch whisky from Glenfiddich in our range.
