Glenfiddich 30 Year Old Suspended Time is a rare single malt from the family-run Speyside distillery. It belongs to the Time Re:Imagined series. The whisky spent at least three decades in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and American bourbon oak.

Every cask was nosed and tasted by the Malt Master before it made the cut. Only the best were hand-picked and married together. As Malt Master Brian Kinsman put it, very old whisky is always a balancing act. The bottle sits in a case that makes it look suspended in mid-air.

The nose is finely balanced. Deep oak meets ripe fruit and luscious sherry notes. On the palate it turns complex and woody, softened by a gentle floral sweetness. Dates and dried figs add depth as it settles. The finish is very long, honeyed and warm.

Pour it neat into a tulip glass and give it time to breathe. A couple of drops of water will bring out more of the fruit. It pairs well with aged cheese, roasted nuts or a dark chocolate dessert.
