Glenfiddich 1963 Limited Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky, released as The Original, is a limited-edition recreation of the 1963 Straight Malt, the bottling Glenfiddich sent out into the world when single malt Scotch was still a rarity outside Scotland. Malt Master Brian Kinsman rebuilt it by nosing a preserved 1963 sample and working from the original recipe, with a nod to the European oak sherry casks common in the 1960s. The nose brings poached pear, oatcake and golden malt with a touch of oak spice. The palate is light and fruity, with vanilla, orange peel and biscuity malt, before a gently drying oak finish.
