George Dickel Tennessee Sour Mash Whisky is the brand’s classic No. 8 bottling. It is made at Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The mash is 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% malted barley. It has no age statement and is bottled at 40% ABV, or 80 proof.

Like other Tennessee whiskies, it is filtered through sugar maple charcoal. Dickel also chills the spirit as part of this step, which is a big part of its mellow style. The whisky then ages in new charred American oak.

Pour a glass and you will find vanilla, a little charcoal and a faint herbal note on the nose. The body is medium. Light caramel and maple lead, backed by oak and gentle spice. Butterscotch shows up as it settles. The finish is smooth and buttery, with a soft wisp of smoke.
