Frey Ranch is a true farm distillery near Fallon, Nevada. Colby and Ashley Frey run it on land their family has farmed for more than 165 years. That farming know-how shapes every bottle of this whiskey. The Freys grow all four grains themselves: corn, rye, wheat, and barley. They also malt, distill, age, and bottle on the same ranch. The farm sits in the Lake Tahoe watershed, so the water comes down from the mountains. This grain-to-glass approach gives the bourbon a clear sense of place. The nose offers honey, orange peel, and an earthy, grainy sweetness. On the palate you get vanilla and caramel with a light touch of rye spice. The finish is gentle and slightly nutty. At 90 proof it is easy to sip. Enjoy this bourbon neat, or add a few drops of water!
