Description

Four Roses Single Barrel is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon bottled at 100 proof, or 50% ABV. Every bottle is drawn from one single barrel. The label notes that barrel's number and the warehouse where it aged.

It uses OBSV, one of the ten recipes Four Roses makes. The distillery creates those ten by pairing two mash bills with five yeast strains. OBSV starts with the B mash bill of 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley. That higher rye share adds a gentle spice. The V yeast brings delicate fruit.

The whiskey is distilled in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. It then ages for seven to nine years. Four Roses is one of the only major distilleries still using single-story rack warehouses. These give each barrel a steady, mild place to rest.

Pour a glass and you will find dried spice, pear, cocoa, vanilla and maple syrup on the nose. The palate is robust and full-bodied, with hints of ripe plum and cherries. The finish stays smooth and delicately long.

Back in 2023, this bourbon won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. New York judges matched it with Double Gold at the New York International Spirits Competition. It also took Gold and a Category Winner title at the World Whiskies Awards 2024.
