Ezra Brooks Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey with a classic spicy kick. It comes from Ezra Brooks, part of Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, Kentucky.

The mash bill is 51% rye, 45% corn and 4% malted barley. The whiskey ages in new charred oak barrels. It is bottled at 90 proof, which keeps the spice lively without too much heat.

Ezra Brooks describes hints of chocolate, leather and vanilla over spicy rye grain. Slightly sweet, oaky tones keep everything in balance. The body is smooth and medium, and the finish stays warm and spicy.

This rye has some hardware too. In 2017 the San Francisco World Spirits Competition awarded it a Gold Medal. The Global Masters Spirits Competition gave it Gold that same year.

Sip it neat or on the rocks to taste the spice. It also makes a great Manhattan, Old Fashioned or Boulevardier. Smoked meats, BBQ ribs, aged cheddar and roasted nuts all pair well. If you want an everyday rye with honest spice, keep a bottle close.
