Description

Evan Williams Single Barrel is a Kentucky straight bourbon that comes from one hand-picked barrel at a time. It was the first vintage-dated single barrel bourbon. Each label shows the date the whiskey went into oak, the date it was bottled and the barrel's serial number. So no two bottles taste quite the same.

It is produced by Heaven Hill Distillery, once called the Heaven Hill Bernheim Distillery. The mash uses the classic Evan Williams recipe of corn, rye and malted barley, with only a little rye. The barrels age in open-rick warehouses, and many are pulled from the upper floors. Most vintages land around seven to nine years old, so check the label dates.

The whiskey pours a soft amber gold and is bottled at 86.6 proof. On the nose you'll find dark caramel, sweet oak and vanilla. The sip is lush and spicy, with oak, honey and vanilla, plus a touch of cinnamon and orange. The finish is long and graceful.

This award-winning bourbon has collected a long list of honors. The Spirit Journal named it Whiskey of the Year, the first bourbon to earn that title. Malt Advocate picked it as Domestic Whiskey of the Year. Food & Wine named it Spirit of the Year for American whiskey. It has also won several Best Buy awards for value.
