Description

El Mexicano Blanco High Proof comes from Hacienda El Mexicano in Arandas, in the highlands of Jalisco. The tequila carries NOM 1588. The Bañuelos family behind it once helped build Cazadores before selling that brand.

The agave is cooked slowly in low-pressure autoclaves and crushed with a roller mill. It ferments in open-air steel tanks with deep well water. Then it is distilled twice in stainless pot stills. It goes into the bottle unaged at 45% ABV, or 90 proof.

That extra strength gives you a fuller glass than a standard 40% blanco. The nose is herbal and earthy, with cooked agave and a squeeze of lemon. On your tongue, sweet agave meets cracked pepper and a clear mineral edge. The finish is brisk and clean, with pepper and citrus lingering.

Judges liked it too. It won Gold at the 2025 Agavos Awards.

Sip it neat or with a splash of water to see the agave open up. It also makes a bright Margarita or Paloma that doesn't get lost under the citrus. Pair it with ceviche, grilled shrimp or tacos with fresh salsa.
