Duckhorn Vineyards produces this exceptional red wine blend, often referred to as a Bordeaux or proprietary blend. It comes from the renowned Napa Valley in California, USA, and is considered one of the finest wines in Duckhorn’s collection. The wine was named after a lively discussion between the Duckhorns and their winemaker about creating a blend for their first vintage. It is mainly made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small amounts of other Bordeaux grapes such as Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec.
This wine is aged for approximately 24 months in French oak barrels, usually spending 18 months in new oak and 6 months in neutral barrels. With an alcohol content of around 14.5%, it delivers a rich, complex, and elegant flavor profile. You can expect notes of black and red fruits like cherry and plum, spices such as clove, hints of oak including vanilla and cocoa, and subtle earthy undertones. Full-bodied with smooth, silky tannins, it has excellent structure and can be aged for many years.
Made from the best grapes and barrels of Duckhorn’s estate vineyards, it pairs beautifully with hearty dishes like beef, lamb, venison, and rich poultry. The standard bottle is 750 mL, though some vintages are also available in larger formats like 1.5L. Wine critics often award it high scores of 90+ points.
