Description
Duckhorn Vineyards, founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, is one of Napa Valley’s most respected wineries. Known for its dedication to crafting premium red wines, the winery is especially famous for its luxurious Napa Valley Merlot. Each bottle reflects the region’s rich winemaking tradition and exceptional terroir. The wine is offered in a 375ml half-bottle, making it ideal for smaller servings, casual evenings, or sharing between two people.
Duckhorn was among the first American wineries to focus on high-end Merlot, beginning in 1979, and has maintained its reputation for quality ever since. The wine blends mainly Merlot grapes with small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, creating layers of flavor and depth. Aged for about 15 months in French oak barrels—with around 40% new oak—it delivers a beautifully balanced character.
With an alcohol content of about 14.5%, the wine offers rich notes of black cherry, plum, and raspberry, accented by hints of mocha, spice, vanilla, and oak. Its soft, velvety texture and smooth tannins lead to a long, elegant finish. Perfect with grilled meats or hearty pasta dishes, Duckhorn Merlot consistently earns critical acclaim while embracing sustainable farming and winemaking practices.
