This Blended Scotch Whisky is aged for 12 years, meaning every whisky in the blend has matured for at least a dozen years, giving it depth and character. It undergoes a special “double aging” process, where the whisky is blended and then returned to oak casks for an additional six months, resulting in a remarkably smooth taste. The whisky is usually sold in a 750ml bottle (or 70cl in some markets) and has an alcohol content of 40% ABV. Made in Scotland by John Dewar & Sons, a company owned by Bacardi, this blend is primarily influenced by Aberfeldy Single Malt, which forms the heart of Dewar’s signature style.
On the nose, it offers inviting aromas of honey, caramel, dried fruits such as apple or apricot, citrus, and subtle hints of malt and smoke. The palate is smooth and balanced, with flavors of vanilla, butterscotch, cereal, oak, honey, and light spices like cinnamon and ginger, leading to a warm, lingering finish with notes of honey, oak, and gentle smoke. Made from about 30 different single malt and grain whiskies, this blend has won numerous awards, including Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and was previously known as “The Ancestor.” It is perfect for drinking neat, on the rocks, or in classic cocktails like an Original or Aromatic Highball.
